Our physiotherapists are allied health professionals - this means that we work alongside your animal’s veterinary team and not in isolation.
Please note that a veterinary history is required from your regular (and specialist if appropriate) veterinary team before your initial consultation. This can be emailed to info@animaliaphysiotherapy.com.au before your session and our physiotherapist will review this before your initial consultation.
During your animals initial consultation, your physiotherapist will discuss the history of your animal’s issues and complete a full ‘nose to tail’ assessment. Once we have established a complete picture of your animal’s physical health, we will formulate a treatment plan and get this started during your initial session.
Within one business day of your consult, we will email you your home exercise program to view after your session - no excuses for forgetting your homeworkl!
After your initial consultation our physiotherapist will send a physiotherapy report to your treating veterinary team to keep them informed of our assessment findings and treatment plan.
If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out and get in touch - happy to chat about your individual situation and needs.
Canine Hydrotherapy at Animalia Physiotherapy
Your initial consultation may include an introduction to our HydroPhysio underwater treadmill if hydrotherapy is deemed clinically appropriate for your animal.

Every patient must complete a full physiotherapy assessment before we consider hydrotherapy as part of the treatment plan.
Allied Health & Multidisciplinary Team Care
Just like in human healthcare, multidisciplinary team care is so important for optimum veterinary care. As part of this, communication is a prioirity at Animalia Physiotherapy.
After your initial session, your physiotherapist will correspond with your veterinarian via our physiotherapy assessment report, to ensure that your veterinary team is kept informed about the outcome of our ainitial session (main problems identified, key findings from our assessment, our recommendations, treatment plan and goals).

Physio first
At Animalia Pysiotherapy, our focus is on hydrotherapy as part of physiotherapy and rehabilitation. Your animal must have completed an initial assessment with our physiotherapist or a recent rehabilitation program with our physiotherapist. At Animalia Physiotherapy, we offer hydrotherapy as part of physiotherapy - not in isolation. The underwater treadmill is one of many tools in the physiotherapists tool box and is most effective when used alongside physiotherapy as a part of a holistic management plan. What you do at home is just as important as what you do with us in clinic - yes, that means HOMEWORK!
Hydrotherapy has its limitations and is not always suitable for all individuals. There will be times when your physiotherapist recommends physiotherapy or land based therapy instead of or in conjunction with hydrotherapy.
Our physiotherapist reserves the right to decline hydrotherapy services if it is not deemed to be clinically appropriate.
